A Sailers Song

image

My day three offering, prompt: to write a sea shanty style poem. I’ve found this prompt difficult. It isn’t within my normal style but gave it a go.

Over the rocky waves we sail
Directing the mast
Avoiding the wale’s
We swamp the deck
And enjoy the ale
While traveling deep blue sea

Over the secret island we trail
Hiding the treasure
We will not fail
Making a map
Then we set sail
Traveling the deep blue sea

Over the arctic sea we shiver
Eyes in the crows nest
Seeing icebergs we quiver
If we survive
We’ll spend our treasure
When home from the deep blue sea
