Bearing my Soul

20130407-163313.jpgDay 7 of NaPoWriMo. Prompt: I challenge you to write a poem in which each line except the last takes the form of a single, declarative sentence. Then, the final line should take the form of a question.

I am my first cry when I was born
I am nutrients my mother gave me
I am first steps stumbled
I am lessons learnt in life
I am my friends companion
I am my first kiss
I am late night dancing
I am words scribbled on a page
I am a girlfriend and then wife
I am a mother
A teacher, a councillor, a nurse
I am a face booker
A twitter tweeter, a blog reader
I am searching for answers
Wanting release from pain
I am disabled
I accept this, on a level
I am a lover of pets
A walker of dogs
I am taker of tablets
But with all these things I am
Does it really reveal the true real me?
What’s inside?
Can you really see my soul?
