Obscure Edgar Allen Poe

Napowrimo, Day 14 and today’s prompt is to write a Clerihew. A clerihew is a whimsical, four-line biographical poem invented by Edmund Clerihew Bentley. The first line is the name of the poem’s subject, usually a famous person put in an absurd light, or revealing something unknown and/or spurious about them. The rhyme scheme is AABB, and the rhymes are often forced. The line length and metre are irregular.
Obscure Edgar Allen Poe

Edgar Allen Poe was fascinated by cats

When he wrote, one would sit on his shoulder to relax

Instead of a Raven, he’d wanted a parrot

But thought it would be as scary as a freshly pulled carrot
