Another Option

Napowrimo 2019, Day 18. One from from my writing workshop at Langley Writers today.

Pub lunch tonight,

Out with some family.

Dreading it.

You see my son has autism.

He’s high functioning.

That doesn’t mean it’s easy.

When he ate kids meals,

It was simple.

Chicken nuggets and chips.

Sausage and chips,

Or a burger in a bun.

With just ketchup.

It’s surprisingly hard,

When you say he wants a burger,

But no salad!

No sauce!

Except ketchup!

They look at you like you have three heads.

He just likes, what he likes.

Today we discovered,

He likes mixed grill.

When he tried my daughters boyfriends food.

Not just mixed grill,

He likes his stake still mooing.

I was so happy.

Doesn’t sound like much,

But another option, is another option.

Even if I don’t like the blood.
