A Fractured Mind

Can you not see it,

Etched in my skin?

Lighting up my veins,

Like a nuclear disaster.

Its a state of mind.

Painted on a sunflower canvas,

Disguised by swirls of yellow.

Which on the surface,

Represent smiles and happiness.

While discreet orange streaks,

Are sparks of ravenous flames.

Burnt moments of mounting exhaustion,

Frustration and anger.

Greying clouds hold tears,

Held in to bursting point.

Until a storm forms on the horizon.

Electrifying lightning builds,

Striking with damaging intensity.

Yet on the surface,

Nothing but a smile.

Hiding the truth,

A fractured mind.
