About Me

I am a poet from Heywood, Lancashire. I started writing at 12 and had my first book published a few years ago, Prejudice and Pride by Katie Haigh

Prejudice and Pride https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009ECABO0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_pXtWAbZSF6RC2

My book is an anthology of poetry about both physical disability and mental illness. I wrote it to highlight and enlighten those blind to these issues as well as to help others on the same path realise they are not alone.

I attend regular open mics including Another Folk and Poetry Night at the Baum in Rochdale and Write out Loud Open mic at The Ring O Bells in Middleton. I have performed my poetry at various festivals including Scribble Festival, Rochdale Literacy and Ideas Festival and Manchester Literacy Festival.

I have a number of small publications under my belt also and have won a few writing competitions.

I am part of two writing groups, Darnhill Scribblers and Langley Writers whom both have monthly meetings.

Apart from the poetry the biggest part of my life is my two children. I have a daughter called Ashleigh, who is already following in my footsteps with poetry, she has been published and performed at open mics and festivals. I have a son Jake, Jake is very clever with computers and programming. He is autistic and enjoys fencing. Both myself and Jake have hyper mobility syndrome which debilitating at times and painful. I also have fibromygelia. I am happily married to my husband Richard Haigh. And I am lucky to have a Mum whose my best friend and a family which support and care for me every step of the way.

I now have a pen Name, so any new posts on my blog will be under the name Autumn Willow.

My mum is dyslexic and she has struggled throughout her life with little help until quite recently. I wish you all the best with your work and blog.
