Playing catchup now with Napowrimo, after a very busy weekend at Pgl with my Brownie Group and Co-leader and then a bad flare up and lots of recovery time, I’m back in the saddle again. Kids back at school Monday, so all being well I’ll be able to get back into the flow.

For Day 10 of Napowrimo I’m following an alphabet prompt.

Eating your Words

An appetite for the alphabet can make you articulate

Blueberry’s bursting boldly with blissful bounce

Crunchy crisps crinkle cut or straight

Dunking donuts deliciously doughy

Extremely exquisite eggsecelennt eggs

Feel good fresh fruit, fantastically fit

Grown in the ground garlic good

Homegrown heartfelt happy honey

Irresistible ice cream including a flake

Juicy jelly joyful gelatine

Killer ketchup charismatically red

Loud lemons and lively limes

Moist melon melting in mouth

Naughty but nice neat little nuts

Offensive Onions only make you cry

Pickled peppers perfectly picked

Quirky quorn a quick alternative

Ripe radishes ready for roasting

Subtly simple soul food spaghetti

Tantalising Tagliatelle touching taste buds

Uplifting comfort, upside down cake

Very virtuous sliced Viennetta

Wickedly worthless words wastefully ingested

Xom tum extremely hot Tai

Young at heart, yummy yogurt

Zany zucchini from over seas

Relax. Napowrimo, day 9

Posted: April 9, 2015 in Uncategorized

Day 9 of Napowrimo and a visual prompt.

Close your eyes

And breath in deep

In and out

In and out

In and out

Lose yourself

In a natural rhythm

a warming sun

Baking you slowly

a gentle breeze

Cooling you nicely

the gulls swoosh above

Sworking in conversation

the waves crashing against the shore

Curling around a pebbled beach

the sand between your finger tips

Rub it’s rough texture together

the towel beneath you

Softly cushioning your body

A scrumptious fish and chips

Enticing your taste buds

A salty sea breeze

Carried on Ocean spray

A soothing inner calm

Wrapping you in contentment

Peaceful, at ease, free

Feel relaxed.

Day 8 of Napowrimo, playing catch up and making my mind up…..

Make up your Mind

A mind is such a funny thing

To make up or not to make

We change it continuously

As others factors we do take

Our minds are always growing

Learning and adapting to life

We take comfort from knowing

But knowledge is a double edged knife

For those who think they know the score

Sometimes fall a foul

To not listen and ignore

Is not the wisest owl

So take your time

To make your mind

As open as can be

A closed mind

Is closed blind

And the blind cannot see

Day 7 prompt is to write a piece about money.

The Cost of a Wish

He held it tight in his hand

His palm sweating against its metallic surface

His heart hammering in anticipation

Soon he would reach his destination

A fountain flowing with endless dreams

Carpeted with sparkling wishes so bright

Coins thrown carrying the deepest hopes

The one he held represented his last resort

For dark clouds overhung his head

He’d lost his way and felt only dread

So only a penny it would cost

It be expensive if his wish he lost

Poppy Pollen

Posted: April 6, 2015 in Uncategorized

Poppy pollen is a magnet for the bees
Outfitted with tiny sacks on their legs
To carry pollen back to the hive
They work the center of the blossom
Harvesting the precious particles

Loaded with heavy fragrant flower dust
The flight home is an odyssey for a hero
At the end of her brief and useful life
Wings flutter with all their might

red poppy red poppy

Rise: Napowrimo Day 5 2015

Posted: April 6, 2015 in Uncategorized

For day 6 prompt I have used the Napowrimo page prompt, using thr form aubade. But as usual I have added my own spin.

Dawn rises extinguishing the last slits of night

It’s light sneaks between curtains ajar

Natures awakens with a chorus of birds

While the cockerel shrilly shreaks ‘Good Morn’

And those in bed begrudgly yawn

For day does beckon us all awake

We bid farewell to sleep filled dreams

As we dress in garments of a daytime theme

We greet reality as life we face

Opening ourselves honestly we embrace

Day 5 of Napowrimo, the prompt didn’t really grip me today, so I’ve decided to see where the flow took me.

It’s like breathing ice cold air

When it steals your breath away

Grasping, gasping to control

It hurts, pure pain

It’s like hands frozen stiff

White, blue, drained

Tingling numbness

It hurts, pure pain

It’s like feet dragging through thick mud

Weighted, trapped, restrained

Steps you cannot take

It hurts, pure pain

It’s like your skull is in a lock

Pressurised around your head

Your mind fights, mental block

It hurts, pure pain

It’s like your under a vodoo curse

The pins you feel cut deep

It’s real but people cannot see

It hurts, pure pain

It’s like running up a hill

But you never reach the top

Your desperate just to stop

It hurts, pure pain
